Granite City Through My Camera
Granite City isn’t just where I live. It’s where my love for music and photography come together in a way that feels real. Every time I take my camera out, I’m reminded that this community is full of moments that deserve to be remembered.
I’ve stood in Civic Park while bands filled the air with classic rock and blues. I’ve watched families line up for funnel cakes at fall festivals on Niedringhaus Avenue. I’ve cheered along with the crowd at Warriors football games on a Friday night. These aren’t just events. They’re reminders that Granite City is alive with stories worth telling.
Fall makes the city even more beautiful. Wilson Park becomes the backdrop for family sessions, with leaves crunching underfoot and golden light falling through the trees. Downtown takes on a glow when the sun sets behind the old buildings, and it makes for some of the best senior sessions. The character of the brick walls, murals, and streets give every photo its own edge and personality. City Temple on Maryville Road has become a special place for me too, not only as my church but as a spot where I capture so many meaningful moments. Everywhere I look I see a scene waiting to be photographed.
When I look back at my photos, I don’t just see events or faces. I see the a place that has shaped who I am. Granite City has a rhythm that shows up in its music, in the cheers from the stadium, in the gatherings at the park, and in the quiet streets at the end of the day. Through my camera I get to hold on to that rhythm and share it with others.
If you’ve been thinking about capturing your own piece of Granite City this fall, now is the perfect time. Whether it’s family pictures at Wilson Park or senior photos downtown, the colors and backdrops won’t last long, but the photos will. I’d love to help tell your story right here in the community we all call home.
